About

As a dance company member you will be involved in many dance camps and workshops throughout the year. In the past, Dance Company has been to New York where we were able to take classes from the professional company Alvin Ailey and Broadway Dance Center. We've also had opportunities to go to California to take workshops and dance classes at Disneyland and LA Dance Force. Dance Company has opportunities to perform at many sports events and playoff games such as football, basketball, wrestling, soccer, and lacrosse. We also perform at many assemblies throughout the school year. We have an annual concert each year that is a combination of professional choreographed pieces as well as student choreographed pieces.

Course Description

In this Dance company course the students will gain an advanced and a greater understanding of dance as an art form. This course focuses mainly on the art of modern dance, the elements of dance (energy, space, and time), improvisational skills, technical mastery, the choreographic process, and mastering performance. Students have the opportunity to create their own dances, teach and work with their peers, as well as professional dancers and choreographers, and be a part of the creative process of putting on assemblies, half-time shows, and concerts. The material given is designed to help students improve overall in dance and provide performance opportunities. Be ready to dive into the world of movement, innovative thought, and boundless creativity.

Lori French
Head Coach
According to Lori’s mom, she never walked anywhere, she always danced. Lori has been professionally trained in ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, jazz, tumbling, hip-hop and cheer/poms. She attended Hillcrest High School and was on the cheerleading squad and dance company. She was dance company president her senior year and choreographed many pieces for the year end dance concerts. Lori attended Brigham Young University where she earned her BA in dance education. She performed with the BYU Dancers’ Company and Dancensemble. She had the incredible opportunity to tour with the Dancers’ Company to many of the states in the west and internationally to Taiwan, Thailand, Cambodia, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Jamaica. She received academic and performance scholarships, dance achievement awards and graduated as valedictorian. After college she taught dance at both Albion and Eastmont Middle Schools for two years. She then started the journey of motherhood, but wanted to keep teaching dance close to her home. She decided running a dance studio in her basement was the perfect fit to balance her life as a mom and her passion for teaching dance. She taught out of her home for six years. While living in Colorado Lori danced professionally with the Hannah Kahn Dance Company for four seasons. She worked closely with Hannah Kahn and many wonderful artists. She performed on the main stage two times a year, but performed in multiple venues for different events and festivals. She also performed, taught master classes and choreographed for many of the schools throughout Denver. One of Lori’s dance highlights comes from her time living in the Philippines. She furthered her dance knowledge by taking multiple classes at the G-Force Dance Center where she received instruction from celebrity dancers/choreographers. The Filipinos she danced with radiated so much energy and joy when they danced. Definitely an experience she will never forget or take for granted. Currently, Lori has been teaching dance and yoga at Bingham. Alongside all of the dancing, Lori is also a mother of 8 and is grateful for her new husband Rob who has been nothing but loving and supportive!

Ella Broberg
Assistant Coach
Ella is 20 years old and is a proud Bingham Dance Company alumni. As a 3-year member, Ella served as an officer her senior year. Her heart goes out to all of her past teammates, who she couldn't have done it all without! She is currently a sophomore at the University of Utah, studying Health, Society & Policy with minors in Buisness and Modern Dance/Dance Education #GOUTES. Ella began her dance journey at four years old. She grew up in a competitive dance Studio where she received all her technical training, and that is where she learned her love & desire for dance. Ella has extensive training experience in Contemporary, Modern Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Ballroom, Musical Theater, Hip-hop, and Choreography. She has trained behind many professional Directors & Choreographers with many companies and dance studios such as Vision Dance Center, Elite Academy, Ballet West, Bingham Dance Company, and Junction Dance Co. Ella has also performed in several professional showcases, including Odyssey, 90&9 "Fighter, and Junction Dance Company showcases. There are no words for Ella when it comes to dance. The lessons and values she has learned throughout the years are priceless to her. She is so grateful to her parents for supporting her through it and cheering her on every step of the way! She is so thankful to be welcomed into this position, and Lori gave me the fantastic opportunity to return to a program she loves so, so deeply! These dancers mean the world to her. Ella promised to provide coaching and just the amount & more of the love and support she once received when she was in their shoes! #BHDC4LIFE
